NCLR Family Strengthening Awards

2010 Family Strengthening Awards

The NCLR Family Strengthening Awards Program presents awards on an annual basis to NCLR Affiliate programs whose exemplary work in the Hispanic community has made a measurable impact in strengthening Latino families. The impact made by the Affiliate organization as a whole must demonstrate a holistic approach that is comprehensive in addressing education, housing, employment, health, and advocacy issues, whether through direct efforts or through partnerships with other organizations. This award offers NCLR a forum in which to honor the work of outstanding Affiliate programs for strengthening the Hispanic family.

For its seventh consecutive cycle, NCLR has chosen three Affiliates winners whose programs have demonstrated best practices in supporting improved outcomes for Latino families and whose work has made measurable impact in strengthening these families through a holistic approach. These Award winning programs were awarded $16,500 will be recognized at the National Affiliate Luncheon, on July 10, 2010, during the NCLR Annual Conference to be held in San Antonio, Texas. The following is the list of 2010 Family Strengthening Awardees:

NCLR will arrange for a total of 35 to 45 representatives of NCLR Affiliates to attend onsite training sessions with selected 2008 Family Strengthening Award winners. The sessions will include an onsite facilities visit, meetings with the winning program’s clients and key program staff, and discussions on funding and best practices. The winning programs will outline the best practices they have used to strengthen Hispanic families in their communities, and will provide an open dialogue for the participating Affiliates to share and develop potential solutions to the challenges they face in running their own programs.

Each session will involve at least one representative from the winning program and ten to fifteen participants from selected NCLR Affiliates. Selected Affiliates will participate in at least one conference call prior to the training session to clearly identify their goals, objectives, and desired results from attending the session.
