Latinos constitute a large and growing proportion of U.S. student enrollment.  Therefore, the success of the public school system depends on its ability to address the academic achievement and educational attainment of Latinos. Despite the fact that 20% of the U.S. student population and 25% of children in the U.S. under the age of five are Latino, education programs known to boost Hispanic student achievement have not received comparable funding increases.

NCLR's Position
NCLR advocates for increased funding for several key education programs that are known to boost the academic achievement of Hispanic students. Click on Early Care and Education Funding or K-12 Funding for information on specific programs, or Hispanic Education Coalition (HEC) to get information on more programs and track HEC’s advocacy efforts.
